I think this is particularly funny because they cut away as it's happening. Take note, all ye comedy directors.
But seriously... Poison playing the Tonys? Anyone else think that's just a little absurd?

woah. that's hilarious. and it looks painful too!
I don't know. Poison playing wasn't that much more ridiculous than Alice Ripley's speech: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T8Kcj0FSP7g
Although i should also mention-- I'm glad you posted this, because I finally get Neil Patrick Harris's subsequent joke that "Brett Michaels gives new meaning to the term 'headbanging'".
Wow. That speech is amazing.
(Also, I like when your guys' collective theater nerdiness comes out).
I love how she claims that this award was beyond "her wildest dreams." What a fucking lie, as she clearly started rehearsing that speech the day she got cast in that show.
Just to be clear, Eric, I didn't watch the broadcast and wouldn't have done so if you'd paid me. Of course, I'd also extend that to the Grammys, Emmys and even Oscars (unless there was a party that all my friends were at-- but I'd still willfully ignore the TV.)
I have a hard time believing there was anything else worth seeing other than Brett Michaels getting whacked. Otherwise I imagine it was just a lot of speeches only slightly less ridiculous than Alice Ripley's and a lot of musical numbers like this one:

That link seems to have stopped working. Use this one instead:

Most of you have seen this, but it bears many repeat views for its sheer awfulness.
