I saw Steve Earle (who I recognized from The Wire) at Grom, the fancy gelato place in Greenwich Village. It was awesome.
Sounds like he's continuing his exploration of drum machines, which I don't have overwhelmingly positive feelings about...all the same, I'm pretty excited by the track list, he's doing some of my very favorite deep cuts. Of course, pretty much any Townes Van Zandt song except Pancho and Lefty is kind of a deep cut, but it looks like he's pulling heavily from Delta Momma Blues, a fantastic album that doesn't get too much love even by Townes standards.

Well, Steve Earle loves New York...his last album was largely an ode to the city. I think you can be a hard-livin' man who smokes into Texas with the hammer down and still enjoy a nice gelato!
And that gelato is damn good-- if a bit (a lot) overpriced.
