Of course, I haven't read his latest book about the African guy, which everybody who thinks I shouldn't find Dave Eggers insufferable says would change my whole opinion about him. Maybe one of these days I'll put it on the to-read pile.
I agree it's an intense thing to read....but in retrospect, I think you'll find The Road to be a curiously life-affirming book. I wouldn't love it so much if it had nothing to offer but gloom.

Yeah, actually, "What Is The What" is pretty amazing. I highly recommend it, as a fellow Eggers-hater.
i haven't read any of his books but What is The What, and i really loved it.
What about The Road? Did you ever finish that? I would like it back one of these days....but more than that I'd like you to finish it.
