Christmas on Mars

I can only dream, but reports are that Christmas on Mars is actually going to be out and in our hands by the end of the year. Too good to be true? Coming out the same week as Chinese Democracy? Maybe, but for now, consider me excited...

Billboard Article

And I'll say it now, if this comes out, I will fly to New York to watch it with most of you fine folk this spring, provided we all agree to wait and watch together.

Well, I've been getting my hopes up about Christmas on Mars for years, so I won't totally believe it until I'm actually watching it in all its glory, but that article certainly was encouraging.

and for the record, things are actually looking up for Chinese Democracy. I have 9 tracks from it (you can find them on the web) and they are releasing a track with the new Rock Band video game this fall...all of which points to one thing: each of us getting a free Dr. Pepper!!!

Tex, I'd ask you to post a Chinese Democracy track on this blog, but I know we'd then get a cease and desist letter. But I might need you to IM some of those my way.

Man that's going to be one tasty Dr. Pepper...

I've heard a number of the Chinese Democracy tracks. I think the biggest bummer of them is not really that they suck, but that they're really average. Certainly not great, but not bad. And to me, that's a let down. I really only have two hopes for that album

1. An awesome, shockingly epic return to form (highly, highly doubtful)
2. An insane, God-awful, borderline unlistenable mess that takes the worst elements of Get in the Ring and melds them with the worst elements of My World.

Anything between those two poles is no good.

obviously, this album is never going to be as good as it should be, considering how long it took to make, but i actually really like a few of the songs. "Better" and "Rihad and the Bedoins" are pretty good. I even like "The Blues".
The songs are good. The production is pretty straight up, with little flouishes that remind you we are in 2008, not 1992. And Axl's voice, though surely aided by modern technology, sounds great.
And yes, drischord, you are right on as to why i haven't posted any yet.
