One Thing We Can All Agree On...

Whatever our differing opinions of his musical output of late, I think we can all agree that Kanye West is a total douchebag.

UPDATE: I just heard about what happened later on the same night. My first reaction to this is that Beyonce continues to grow in my admiration. My second reaction is that THIS part did seem strangely staged...

UPDATE 2: This is silly, but somehow I couldn't resist posting it as well. The best part is when Obama says "It's not true".

Firstly, this is being posted on the internet with the comment, "That was fast, internet" (or some variation on same):

The crazy thing is, this was already up last night-- I'm talking, within a couple hours. Gotta love the internet.

Anyway, I'm kind of inclined to think it was staged. Would ANYONE be talking about the VMAs if this didn't happen? Did anyone even know the VMAs were on last night?? What is the point of a Video Music Awards show by a network that does not play any video music?

Reasons I think it wasn't staged:

- Taylor Swift is not a good enough actress
- If it was staged it would have been written better
- Kanye is a legitimate douche

Also, Beyonce looked embarrassed as hell.

That video is hilarious, but Kanye would never interrupt President Obama--he CARES about black people.

Staged?! On MTV?! Come on, next you'll be telling me that "The Hills" isn't real...

The real tragedy of this thing is that poor, fawn-like Taylor Swift's feelings were genuinely hurt! How callous of Kanye to ruin that moment, the pinnacle of any recording artist's career: winning an MTV Video Music Award.

I mean, honestly, even if you are bat-shit crazy enough to believe that Beyonce's video is "one of the greatest of all time", doesn't she already have, like, 12 of these things in her basement? The MTV Video Music Awards are the only thing in this world that makes the Grammys look legitimate and dignified.

Speaking of the Grammys, remember when Ol' Dirty Bastard pulled this trick on Shawn Colvin? At least he had years of severe drug abuse as an excuse...

Definitely wasn't staged. Kanye would have mistaken the script for a book and refused to read it.

Dead to me.

Jay, I believe you'll find that one of your comments is proven wrong by my second update.

I just rewatched again today-- the best part by far is the shrug after he's done. Genius bit of physical comedy on Kanye's part.
