The New Lucinda Williams is Really Good

If you're like me, you'd lost interest in her after two meh albums (World Without Tears and Little Honey) surrounding a genuine clunker (West).

But this new album is quite good actually. It's not quite on the level of Car Wheels... but it's probably up there with Sweet Old World and Essence on that next tier. Here's a track...

The fact that her new guitarist sounds like Stevie Ray Vaughan doesn't hurt either!

And for what it's worth, Car Wheels on a Gravel Road is surely one of my favorite albums of all time.

I'm also a big fan of Car Wheels, and some of her earlier work. I like the production on the song you posted a lot...it sounds as warm and soulful as her best work. On first listen the lyrics aren't really doing it for me, but I'm glad you think this album is an improvement over the last few.

There are some really nice lyrics on this record. There's a song devoted to Vic Chesnutt that definitely spoke to me. This song isn't the best lyrical showcase, but yeah, I just really like the overall warmth.
