Q asked about Synthesizer Patel in the Wilco comments, and I got curious. Of course, the internet being what it is, my question was solved... kind of.
Apparently he's a British, what? Comedian? Performance Artist? Synthesizer Enthusiast? Who knows, but you owe it to yourself to watch this:

Whoa. Wait, is Wilco actually saying "synthesizer Patel" in that song? I assumed they were just saying something incomprehensible that sounded like it.
If you have the physical copy check the liner notes, it's there in the lyrics. "Synthesizer Patel". It's even capitalized to indicate it's a name, so, I assume it's really a reference to this dude. Why? The mind of Tweedy remains a mystery.
Not that this explains any further why he's mentioned in the song, but here's a little more on Patel: http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/lookaroundyou/programmes/music/
OK, wow, there are some other great sketches from that same show on YouTube. Did any of you guys look at "The First Rap Song to be Performed in the UK"?
